The German machinery and plant manufacturers present their products at Stone+tec, the International Trade Fair for Natural Stone and Stoneprocessing Technology, from 20-23 May. They show engineering solutions for industrial extraction and processing of natural stone in halls 6, 7 and 7a of the Nürnberg exhibition centre.

From extraction to exclusive kitchen worktop
The German machinery and plant manufacturers offer a broad spectrum of modern machines and plants for efficiently processing natural stone. The blocks of stone are sawn using steel shot gang saws, diamond gang saws, circular saws or wire saws, depending on the material and slab thickness. A variety of design possibilities are available for surfacing, the most common of which is honing with various grain sizes – from matt to high-gloss finish. Rustic surfaces are created by blasting, flaming and brushing. For natural stone products for the building sector, the German machinery manufacturers offer automatic plants for tasks such as the production of facing slabs – from cutting to size to drilling anchor holes. Modern plant concepts are also available for the production of exclusive kitchen worktops and vanity tops. The priority for the production of both facing slabs and kitchen worktops is on precision and optimum material utilization. A wide range of CNC machines is also offered for processing solid stone and stone for historic buildings. All these technologies will be on show at Stone+tec, where the machinery and plant manufacturers offer comprehensive solutions – from machinery, advice and training to service and maintenance. The German manufacturers are especially interested in strengthening long-term customer relationships.

VDMA at Stone+tec
The staff of VDMA are available to help and advise visitors and exhibitors. They will provide information about the German natural stone machinery industry, arrange contacts with companies and offer guidance at the exhibition. The VDMA stand is stand 306 in hall 7A.

Focus on India
India is one of the world’s major producers of natural stone andtherefor it offers a hugefuture markets for the German manufacturers of natural stone machinery. VDMA and its member companies await a delegation from the Center for Development of Stones (CDOS) at Stone+tec. The delegation is expected to be accompanied by the Industry Minister and the Director of the Development Agency from the state of Rajasthan. A meeting of the Indian VIPs, VDMA representatives and member firms is planned for 21 May. On 20 May, VDMA together with AKEMI, a leading manufacturer of adhesive and filler systems, is organizing a workshop on modern laying techniques for natural stone products. The workshop is designed for layers of natural stone slabs, architects, interior designers and natural stone companies from India. The aim is to explain the quality standards to the Indian visitors.

Mechanical engineering
VDMA, the German Engineering Federation represents more than 3,000 companies in the German mechanical and plant engineering sector with its SME structure. This sector with almost one million employees is the largest industrial employer and overall one of the leading branches of industry. The sector is highly international with an export rate of over 75 per cent, which means three out of every four machines are exported abroad. Last year’s export volume was 147 billion euros and representing a total value of some 205 billion euros. Exporting business is also the most important mainstay for the manufacturers of natural stone machinery and plant. Eastern Europe and Russia are also major markets for the sector.
